A comprehensive photobook sharing the natural and man-made beauty of this large sand island off Brisbane, Queensland, Australia by Bryan Foster.
Bryan spent his first two years at Dunwich, Straddie, and is a regular holiday maker there today.
'Straddie' is the name by which most people know North Stradbroke Island. Minjerribah is its indigeneous name.
This most beautiful and natural island is about 50% national park, jointly administered by the local Quandamooka people, 'people of the sand and water'.
Easy access is by barge or ferry from Cleveland. Regular services are offered. People on Straddie are well supported through local services: food, holiday accommodation including resorts and camping, health support, surf lifesavers, various clubs, libraries, a museum, fishing sites and much more.
4x4 access to a number of beaches and inland tracks open up these beautiful island to moden day 'explorers' and campers. Permits are required though.
